April Lockhart

April Lockhart (born July 4 April, 1995) began her musical journey in the 7th grade when she took guitar and piano classes. April Lockhart penned her first track"Different" when she was twelve years old. The year she turned 14 was when she devoted a great deal of her time writing song ideas and practicing her music. Then, she began taking trips to NY and LA together with her father to help them write songs. April also included additional topics in her hit song, Take my Hand. These topics included topics for her friends who dealt with things like peer pressure and disabilities, or even teenage suicidal thoughts. Lockhart has her own following and works as a lifestyle blogger with the popular Ilia Clean Beauty brand. The truth is that she was born with no left hand. This is what makes her different. It's not the only thing about her. So, Lockhart's Instagram page does not shy away from her disability, but it's not focused on her disability as well. What message is it trying to convey? The message is: We all have numerous identities. We're much more complex than we think we are. Lockhart has stated on video that she doesn't wish to be defined solely by her physical disability. She doesn't wish to become a disability advocate who only speaks about it. There are many aspects to Lockhart. This doesn't interfere with my life. Everything is normal and I've learned how to adapt. Since it's a part of who I am It's a topic worthy of discussion. Lockhart is a true source of inspiration for self-acceptance in general she is on a long road to reach this. Still she admits she's gone through phases with her body, at times, being unsure about wearing specific types of clothes that showed off her arms. Today, she wears what she's comfortable in and post images of her outfits to social media with pride. What makes self-love so appealing to her is the fact that it's not a place to go. It's a journey, I don't think you ever get there. I think that having people close to you who truly understand you and can see your feelings is crucial since they'll be those who remind you What are you worrying about?
